CBT
“We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.”
― Anaïs Nin
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence based psychotherapy that helps us to understand how we think affects how we feel emotionally and physically and the way in which we then behave. It is a collaborative therapy that focuses on how we interpret and make sense of  the world and ourselves within it.
CBT
Is a talking therapy with the goal of you becoming your own therapist.
Its aim is to understand the vicious cycles we become stuck in. To identify the negative thoughts and beliefs we hold and how they affect our emotions and behaviours.
From our new persepective and understanding we learn to challenge our thinking and change.

Change
The first step is to understand what led us to having these negative thoughts and beliefs.
We set goals to work towards.
We then learn techniques to identify old thinking styles and behaviours. This gives us the understanding to start to identify what we need to change.
We learn new skills including problem solving and how to face our fears.
We build resilience, confidence and we make our world bigger and happier.

About Me
My name is Annabelle. I am a BABCP accredited CBT therapist. I have previously worked in the NHS specialising in eating disorders and for a number of charities and private clinics in Oxford. I have worked with varrying mental health difficulties which range from mild, to moderate, to severe with success.
I have experience in working with young people, around 70% of my clients are between 13-17, adults and older adults.
I specialise in eating disorders and all types of anxiety: OCD, social anxiety, health anxiety, general anxiety, panic, PTSD, low self-esteem. I also work with depression and addiction.
I understand it can be difficult to take the first step to ask for help. I am calm and compassionate and work collaboratively with my clients offering a safe non-judgemental space.
I see clients face to face or via zoom.

Young person who had Anorexia Nervosa

'I learned how to gently and confidently face my fears and let my eating disorder go. I achieved my goal of starting university in September something I had previously been told I would not be able to do because I would not be well enough.  Thank you.'

Young person's parent testimonial.

"Annabelle came into my daughter's life at a time when she was very vulnerable and had considerable mental health, self-harm, depression and self-esteem issues, it was heart breaking to see her so vulnerable and not be able to help her get better.
Annabelle slowly drew her out of herself and gave her new ways to think about things and herself, as well as giving her the tools and techniques to work on when she is feeling down. Our whole family is in a much better place as a result. Thank you"

Low Self-Esteem causing work related problems.

'I never thought I would have a mental health issue but negative situations at work caused me to doubt myself. I became depressed and anxious and had to take time off. Thank you I am now back to my old self, confident leading my team and striding forward. I would recommend CBT to everyone'.

OCD Oxford University Student.

'My OCD and fear of making a mistake or harming someone had become so bad I couldn't go out. I had developed multipul rituals around washing, cleanliness and numbers it was affecting every area of my life, to the extent I no longer had one. CBT was intersting and fun after 10 sessions my life had completely changed for the better, no OCD rituals and I had challenged my beliefs. Thank you Annabelle'
